Course Details

Virtually all nonfiction books, whether completely written or merely in the formative phase, are sold via the proposal. The proposal provides a publisher with a quick, effective way of knowing three things. Is your book sellable in today's market? Are you the person to write this book? Are you a good writer? Since 85% of all books sold are nonfiction, a great way to become a published author is by writing a nonfiction book. Publishers buy books that excite them. You job is to convince them to buy your book. That's where a compelling, professional proposal comes in.

In this seminar, you will learn:

  • How to write a one page précis that details the purpose and uniqueness of your book and identifies your audience
  • How to identify competition to show publishers how your book provides new insight
  • How to promote your book in a cost-effective way
  • How to let publishers know why you are the perfect person to write this book
  • How to outline your chapters, no matter what stage your book is in
  • How to create sample chapters that wow publishers
  • How to approximate the length of your manuscript and the time it will take you to complete it
